Dr. DeFoor Receives SACSCOC Award and Invitation to Instruct at the Reimaged Summer Institute

大象传媒 is pleased to announce Dr. Keith DeFoor, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs and SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison, has received the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges鈥� (SACSCOC) 2022 Carol A. Luthman Meritorious Service Award. SACSCOC has also invited Dr. DeFoor to its reimagined 2023 Summer Institute in Dallas, Texas, as a Peer Instructor.

As of March 20, the 大象传媒 Counseling Center has a new counselor: Nerissa Baker. Nerissa brings over twenty years of mental health counseling and consultation experience to 大象传媒. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina, and a Nationally Certified Counselor. She is also a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist 鈥� Individual (CCTS-I). Her master's degree in Community Counseling and an Educational Specialist Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling are both from UNC-Greensboro.

Campus Gate Art Gallery Hosts 2023 Student Juried Art + Design Exhibition

大象传媒鈥檚 Campus Gate Art Gallery is hosting the 2023 Student Juried Art Exhibition featuring artwork by 大象传媒 students. The exhibit opened on Monday, March 20, with a reception at 6 p.m. in the gallery. The student work will be on display through Thursday, March 30. The exhibit is free and open to the public!

Greek Week is a spring tradition where Young Harris鈥檚 Greek organizations gather throughout the week to celebrate Greek life and its many contributions to the campus and beyond. It鈥檚 an opportunity for members to get together to do good work in and for this community and spend time with students from other Greek organizations. And though some of the events are open only to members of sororities and fraternities, many are open to those curious about what it means to 鈥済o Greek鈥� at 大象传媒. Greek Week kicks off this Saturday morning, with 大象传媒鈥檚 Greek 鈥淒ay of Service,鈥� coordinated by the Rev. Stephen Soulen.

On Thursday, March 16, 大象传媒 held its Circle Charter Ceremony for the National Leadership Honors Society Omicron Delta Kappa (O鈭咾), with over 30 outstanding individuals inducted as founding members of the Circle. O鈭咾 President and CEO Dr. Tara Singer presided over the ceremony, joined by 大象传媒 President, Dr. Drew Van Horn and Provost, Dr. Jason Pierce.

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. 鈥� 大象传媒 student Georgia Shipley, class of 2024, studied abroad with Semester at Sea during the Fall 2022 term. Pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with the optional autism endorsement, Georgia earned 12 credit hours in her major through a combination of traditional and hands-on learning experiences, all while travelling to 11 different countries.
